This page is Dedicated to the Memory of my son's best friend

19-year old U.S. Army Pvc. Wesley R. Riggs
Army’s 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, Ga.
Killed by a roadside bomb Tikrit, Iraq, May 17, 2005
Wesley came home to rest at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas May 25, 2005. At the Mass, Wesley's family received Wesley's two commendations — the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal and Army Service Ribbon. Our Hero was given full military honor funeral that rivaled the funeral of President Reagan.
The duly elected representatives and senators of Texas rallied round the family! A flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in Wes' honor. This same flag was then delivered to the family at a town Memorial for Wes that Sunday by a Texas representative.
The soldiers in his division had a memorial in Iraq and told stories of Wes and their thoughts! It's is extremely hard on the ones still fighting on in a fallen soldier's division. God Bless them and all the others serving around the world from all countries fighting for and protecting freedom!
Wes took great pride in serving his country in Iraq. It was what he wanted to do. His main concern was the children, where most have newspapers for shoes.
These are verses that give me great peace. The Bible is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
"And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. "
Exodus 14:13
"When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 20:1
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Joseph 1:9
"He wanted to save the world, but he was our world!"

182nd Infantry Division Ft Campbell, Ky departed for his 2nd tour in Iraq on Sept 18, 2005
His mom sent along this note:
My heart is very heavy knowing that for the second time my son will be over there. But I am in full support and think I understand the purpose of the mission. I will now rely on my Heavenly Father for his safety...he is the best of hands. Thank you for sharing your heroes story with us. Janet
The Face of Heroes!!
Hi Cresa, Received my bracelet and am loving it. Thank you for being so quick in sending it to me. My boys (shown below--Ben and Luke) are now stationed in the French Quarter and have called me to let me know they are fine. They have been separated due to the army's prohibition of brothers serving together in potentially volatile circumstances, but keep tabs on each other occasionally with their cell phones. They are doing house to house evacuations and walking the streets of the city on patrol. Thank you for your kind words and for your prayers for our country. This will be a long haul, but I believe God will continue to provide for our nation and bless this land. Ellen
Looking forward to my son coming home from Iraq in April.
Cresa
