Royal Patrician Bone China
Bone China The best pottery has always been the thinnest and most refined. English craftsman realized that by adding calcium phosphate to porcelain in the form of oxbone ashes, they could go beyond the limits of porcelain’s fragility, creating works so fine and white that they became translucent. As such, English Bone China has never been surpassed in the last two hundred years. The most highly skilled craftsmen are still to be found producing English Bone China today. The designation “Fine China” (but not Fine Bone China) usually refers to china that lacks actual bone, instead employing aluminum silicate to mimic certain lost properties, unfortunately with somewhat sub-standard results.
